THE GIANT SLEEPOVER – Saturday 19th & Sunday
20th June 2004
32 Cub Scouts from 12th and 7th Kidderminster Scout Groups are record
holders and that is now official! |

Altogether 428 groups and 8,280 individuals
participated in the Giant Sleepover.
Though the sleepover was on the Saturday night we stayed at the hut on
Friday night, no sleep but at least we were ready for the coach to take
us to Nottingham to the
Robin Hood Experience. We learnt about Robin
Hood and his merry men, had a go at archery, brass rubbing and watched a
film about him as well as going on the ride through the forest – very
cold and yukky – would not liked to have been one of his men.

After we had returned to the Scout hut the boys went
and played on the field while waiting for the sausages to cook. After
tea it was a game of rounders and before we knew it it was getting dark.
While they were playing outside a couple of leaders were putting games
out for them to play, carpet bowls, ludo, noughts and crosses, packs of
cards. They really enjoyed this part of the evening and when they were
all in their beds they played bingo.
Sunday saw us up rather late and by the time we had had breakfast and
tidied up the parents were there to collect them.
It was a lovely weekend and the boys and their leaders really enjoyed it
and they can now proudly say that they are a record holder.
Will we do it again? – yes – I have the registration form sat
here next to me and most of it is planned.
